The Kachere Series is an initiative of the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Malawi. It aims to promote the emergence of a body of literature which will enable students and others to engage critically with religion, culture and society in Malawi. There are four categories of publishing that the Kachere Series produces: Kachere Books, Kachere Texts, Kachere Monographs, and Kachere Studies. In addition, it publishes two academic journals and the Sources for the Study of Religion in Malawi. In addition, the Mvunguti Series, a sister to the Kachere Series, publishes books in the many languages of Malawi. An important aspect of the organisations work is the publication of essays and theses.
